Liga vraagt Parlementaire Onderzoekscommissie over NSA.

Naar Duits voorbeeld vraagt de Liga voor Mensenrechten de oprichting van een parlementaire onderzoekscommissie om de betrokkenheid van de binnenlandse inlichtingendiensten bij de grootschalige spionagepraktijken van de Amerikaanse NSA tegen het licht te houden. Hiertoe werd een verzoek gericht tot Kamervoorzitter André Flahaut.

Gelet op de mogelijke betrokkenheid en de omvang van de afluisterpraktijken en gelet op het grote belang dat moet worden gehecht aan de bescherming van de persoonlijke levenssfeer, gewaarborgd door nationale en internationale rechtsregels, oordeelt de Liga voor Mensenrechten dat het grootschalig tappen en opslaan van telefoon- en andere digitale gegevens het voorwerp zou moeten uitmaken van een onderzoek door een parlementaire onderzoekscommissie.
De Liga wijst op het belang van een democratische controle op de samenwerking van binnenlandse en buitenlandse inlichtingendiensten en van mogelijke maatregelen om onaanvaardbare en buitensporige spionageactiviteiten te voorkomen en aan banden te leggen. “De bescherming van de persoonlijke levenssfeer is een kostbaar goed en moet met alle mogelijke democratische middelen worden nagestreefd en gehandhaafd, zegt Paul Pataer van de Liga voor Mensenrechten.”
Recent nog werd in de Duitse Bondsdag unaniem beslist een parlementaire onderzoekscommissie op te richten om uitsluitsel te geven over de vraag in hoeverre de Duitse geheime diensten op de hoogte waren van de Amerikaanse "illegale" praktijken. Daarbij blijkt het de bedoeling te zijn niet alleen verantwoordelijken van geheime diensten te horen, maar ook van grote internetbedrijven.
In de Verenigde Staten werd inmiddels een rapport opgesteld naar bedoelde afluisterpraktijken met verstrekkende aanbevelingen in verband met het bijhouden van een database met telefoongesprekken van vrijwel alle Amerikanen en de er mee gepaard gaande schending van burgerrechten.
De mogelijke activiteiten van de National Security Agency (NSA), de nationale inlichtingendienst van de Verenigde Staten van Amerika, in ons land en andere Europese staten hebben de jongste maanden heel wat stof doen opwaaien. Er ontstond vorig jaar grote ophef toen na onthullingen door Edward Snowden bekend werd dat de NSA op grote schaal Europese burgers afluisteren en hun internetverkeer monitoren. Zelfs politieke leiders werden daarbij niet gespaard.
Betrouwbare bronnen bevestigen dat verschillende bedrijven, vooral actief in de IT-sector, meewerken met de NSA in het verzamelen van contactgegevens. Het is nauwelijks denkbaar dat de eigen binnenlandse veiligheids- en inlichtingendiensten niet op de hoogte zijn van die activiteiten en het is niet ondenkbaar dat diezelfde diensten bijstand hebben verleend en verlenen aan de NSA bij het ontplooien van haar activiteiten.
De Nederlandse Orde van Advocaten bij de Balie te Brussel diende vorig jaar reeds een klacht in bij het parlementair Comité I om de NSA-praktijk aan te klagen met nadruk op de noodzakelijk geachte samenwerking van de NSA met Europese, en dus ook Belgische, veiligheidsdiensten.

Four noble truths & the noble eightfold path [Buddhist teaching]

FOUR NOBLE TRUTHS:


 
    This Dhamma, or universal moral law discovered by the Buddha, is
  summed up in the Four Noble Truths: the truths about the universal
  sway of suffering, about its origin, its extinction, and the path
  leading to its extinction.
 
    (I) The First Truth, about the universality of //suffering//,
  teaches, in short, that all forms of existence are of necessity
  subject to suffering.
 
    (II) The Second Truth, about the //origin of suffering//, teaches
  that all suffering is rooted in selfish //craving// and //ignorance//,
  in //tanha// and //avijja//. It further explains the cause of this
  seeming injustice in nature, by teaching that nothing in the world can
  come into existence without reason or cause; and that not only all our
  latent tendencies, but our whole destiny, all weal and woe, results
  from causes which we have to seek partly in this life, partly in
  former states of existence.
 
    The second truth further teaches us that the future life, with all
  its weal and woe, must result from the seeds sown in this and former
  lives.
 
    (III) The Third Truth, or the truth about the //extinction of
  suffering//, shows how, through the extinction of craving and
  ignorance, all suffering will vanish and liberation from this Samsara
  be attained.
 
    (IV) The Fourth Truth shows the way, or the means by which this
  goal is reached. It is the Noble Eightfold Path of right
  understanding, right thought, right speech, right bodily action, right
  livelihood, right effort, right mindfulness and right concentration of
  mind.
 
    From these Four Noble Truths we shall pick out and clear up such
  points as are essential for a general knowledge of the Dhamma. In
  doing so, we shall at the same time refute a number of widespread
  prejudices concerning the Buddha's teaching.

EIGHTFOLD NOBLE PATH:
 
    Let us, however, first outline the Noble Eightfold Path, for it is
  this path of righteousness and wisdom that really constitutes the
  //essence of Buddhist practice// -- the mode of living and thinking to
  be followed by any true follower of the Buddha.
 
    (1) The first stage of the Eightfold Path is, as already stated,
  Right Understanding, i.e. understanding the true nature of
  existence, and the moral laws governing the same. In other words, it
  is the right understanding of the Dhamma, i.e. of the Four Noble
  Truths.
 
    (2) The second stage of the Eightfold Path is Right Thought,
  i.e. a pure state of mind, free from sensual lust, from ill-will, and
  from cruelty; in other words, thoughts of self-renunciation, of
  goodness, and of mercy.
 
    (3) The third stage is Right Speech. It consists of words which
  are not false, not harsh, not scandalous, not frivolous, i.e. truthful
  words, mild words, pacifying words, and wise words.
 
    (4) The fourth stage is Right Bodily Action, i.e. abstaining
  from intentional killing or harming of any living creature, abstaining
  from dishonest taking of others' property, abstaining from adultery.
 
    (5) The fifth stage is Right Livelihood, i.e. such a livelihood
  as does not bring harm and suffering to other beings.
 
    (6) The sixth stage is Right Effort. It is the fourfold effort
  which we make in //overcoming// old and //avoiding// fresh bad actions
  by body, speech and mind; and the effort which we make in
  //developing// fresh actions of righteousness, inner peace and wisdom,
  and in //cultivating// them to perfection.
 
    (7) The seventh stage is Right Mindfulness, or alertness of
  mind. It is the ever-ready mental clarity whatever we are doing,
  speaking, or thinking and in keeping before our mind the realities of
  existence, i.e. the impermanence, unsatisfactoriness and phenomenality
  (//anicca//, //dukkha//, //anatta//) of all forms of existence.
 
    (8) The eighth stage is Right Concentration of mind. Such a
  kind of mental concentration is meant, as is directed towards a
  morally wholesome object, and always bound up with right thought,
  right effort and right mindfulness.
 
    Thus the Eightfold Path is a path of morality (Sila), of mental
  training (Samadhi), and of wisdom (Panna).
 
    //Morality// therein is indicated by right speech, right bodily
  action, and right livelihood. //Mental training// is indicated by
  right effort, right mindfulness, and right concentration of mind. And
  //wisdom// is indicated by right understanding and right thought.
 
    Thus this liberating Eightfold Path is a path of inner culture, of
  inner progress. By merely external worship, mere ceremonies and
  selfish prayers, one can never make any real progress in righteousness
  and insight. The Buddha says: "Be your own isle of refuge, be your own
  shelter, seek not for any other protection! Let the truth be your isle
  of refuge, let the truth be your shelter, seek not after any other
  protection!" To be of real effect, to ensure an absolute inner
  progress, all our efforts must be based upon our own understanding and
  insight. All absolute inward progress is rooted in right
  understanding, and without right understanding there is no attainment
  of perfection and of the unshakable peace of Nibbana.
 
    Belief in the moral efficacy of mere external rite and ritual
  (//silabbata-paramasa//) constitutes, according to the Buddha's
  teaching, //a mighty obstacle to inner progress//. One who takes
  refuge in mere external practices is on the wrong path. For, in order
  to gain real inner progress, all our efforts must necessarily be based
  on our own understanding and insight. Any real progress is rooted in
  right understanding, and without right understanding there will be no
  attainment of unshakable peace and holiness. Moreover, this blind
  belief in mere external practices is the cause of much misery and
  wretchedness in the world. It leads to mental stagnation, to
  fanaticism and intolerance, to self-exaltation and contempt for
  others, to contention, discord, war, strife and bloodshed, as the
  history of the Middle Ages quite sufficiently testifies. This belief
  in mere externals dulls and deadens one's power of thought, stifles
  every higher emotion in man. It makes him a mental slave, and favours
  the growth of all kinds of hypocrisy.

Gezondheid: Klokkenluider zet farmaceutische INDUSTRIE te kijk..

John Virapen is een farmaceutische klokkenluider. In 1968 begon deze carrière in de farmaceutische industrie. Zijn voorouders kwamen uit India en hij is geboren in Brits Guyana en bracht daar zijn jeugd door. Zijn familie had geld gespaard zodat hij in Amerika en Engeland medicijnen en psychologie kon studeren.
Virapen werkte zich op tot directeur van een van de grootste farmaceutische bedrijven ter wereld in Zweden. In die functie heeft hij meegewerkt aan corruptie, omkoping van ambtenaren e.d. om medicijnen goedgekeurd te krijgen.
Later begon Virapen zich te realiseren dat de farmaceutische industrie uitsluitend geïnteresseerd is in winst en in het geheel niet in de gezondheid van de consument. De farmaceutische industrie creëert zelfs nieuwe ziekten om verzekerd te zijn van omzet.
Dr. John Virapen had toen 35 jaar van zijn leven gewerkt voor Eli Lilly, en komt de laatste 2 jaar met zeer ernstige verwijten naar deze industrie. Hij nam zijn verantwoordelijkheid en werd klokkenluider die deze praktijken aan de wereld openbaarde. Hij nam ontslag om de wereld te gaan waarschuwen voor de gevaarlijke motieven en kwade praktijken en vooral voor de psychiatrische medicijnen!
Virapen: “Ik maakte deel uit van het kwaad, had een carrière maar deed veel slechte dingen.”
Hadden we onlangs al de Amerikaanse arts en researcher Dr. Diane Harper, die een boekje opendeed over de uitermate kwalijke praktijken van Big Pharma, we hebben nu dus het boek van John Virapen dat gewoon keihard haar verhaal bevestigd. MEDISCHE WETENSCHAP BLIJKT KWAKZALVERIJ




Het gezaghebbende British Medical Journal heeft een onderzoek laten uitvoeren naar 2500 van de meest voorgeschreven reguliere medische behandelingen en medicijnen. De uitkomsten zijn gepubliceerd in Clinical Evidance Handbook. En deze uitkomsten, gedaan door de reguliere medische wereld zelf, zijn zeer verontrustend. De geneeskunde blijkt al jarenlang gebruik te maken van medicatie waarvan slechts 12% een positief effect zou kunnen hebben. De rest is kwakzalverij of zelfs levensgevaarlijk.

Het Clinical Evidance Handbook is duidelijk. Slechts 12% van de 2500 meest gebruikte en voorgeschreven medicijnen en behandelingen door artsen krijgen het predicaat ‚bewezen positief effect’.

Dit predicaat is gebaseerd op meta-onderzoek waarbij minimaal één onderzoek is gevonden dat een positief effect aantoont dat groter is dan de schadelijke effecten. De wetenschappelijke redactie houdt daarbij wel een slag om de arm: “ ‘Bewezen positief effect’ betekent niet dat de behandeling bij alle mensen effectief is of dat er ook andere gewenste positieve effecten zijn, noch dat een gemeten positief effect op een ander tijdstip na de behandeling nog steeds aanwezig zal zijn.”

Valsheid in medische publicaties

Sceintific-Ethical Committee for Copenhagen and Fredriksberg Municipalties geven in hun onderzoek aan dat “75% van alle gepubliceerde medisch-wetenschappelijk onderzoek niets anders is dan promotiemateriaal.” Deze enorme fraude kwam aan het licht nadat farmaceutisch fabrikant Wyeth werd gedwongen om al haar documenten openbaar te maken. De zaak werd gestart nadat 14.000 vrouwen na het gebruik van het overgangsmiddel Prempro borstkanker ontwikkelde. Prempro is een medicijn dat bestaat uit een combinatie van geconjugeerde oestrogenen en progesteron. De, in dit geval door Wyeth aangestelde marketingsbureaus, waren bekend als ‘Medische voorlichting en communicatie bureaus”. In 2002 waren er 18 artikelen gepubliceerd waaruit naar voren kwam dat Prempro goede diensten zou verlenen aan vrouwen in de overgang. Deze publicaties waren o.a. te lezen in International Journal of Cardiology en American Journal of Obstetics & Gynecoloy. Opmerkelijk is dat vlak voor deze publicaties de ‚Womens Health Initiative’ had aangetoond dat hormoonpreparaten in de overgang juist gecontraïndiceerd waren omdat ze het risico op borstkanker en herseninfarcten vergroten.

Deze medische voorlichtings- en communicatie bureaus werken in opdracht van alle farmaceuten om hun producten aan de artsen te promoten. Het systeem dat door al deze medische communicatie bureaus wordt, gebruikt ziet er als volgt uit:

Er wordt een meta-analyse gedaan van klinisch wetenschappelijk onderzoeken. De uitkomsten van deze onderzoeken krijgen een positieve draai mee. Vervolgens wordt er een medisch professional of wetenschapper als hoofdauteur in naam aangezocht. Deze ‘hoofdauteur’ hoeft het artikel niet gelezen te hebben. De naam erbij is voldoende voor betaling, publicatie en eeuwige roem.

Professor A. Fugh-Berman van de Georgetown University Medical Centre in Washington deed onderzoek naar deze vorm van medische wetenschappelijke publicaties. Ze ontdekte dat er de afgelopen 12 jaar 90.000 van dergelijke publicaties in medische tijdschriften waren geplaatst.“Elk medisch wetenschappelijk tijdschrift is ‘besmet’ met dergelijk soort reclame materiaal verborgen als wetenschappelijk artikel geschreven door medische communicatie bureaus in opdracht van farmaceuten.” [2].

Wyeth blijft het middel prempro nog steeds als medisch wetenschappelijk bewezen via internet promoten. [3]
Het Sceintific-Ethical Committee for Copenhagen and Fredriksberg Municipalties geeft dan ook aan dat van de door de Clinical Evidance Handbook gestelde 12%, 75% vermoedelijk frauduleus is. Het getal moet naar beneden worden bijgesteld naar 3% met het predicaat ‘bewezen positief effect’.

De cijfers op een rijtje

Clinical Evidance Handbook van de British Medical journal Publisher meldt dat van de 2500 meest voorgeschreven medicamenten en behandelingen:

- 3 procent een groter ongunstig dan gunstig effect scoort.
- 5 procent waarschijnlijk geen gunstig effect heeft.
- 8 procent evenveel gunstige als ongunstige effecten heeft (uitruil middelen).
- 12 procent enig bewijs van gunstig effect scoort.
- 23 procent een zeer zwak bewijs voor enig gunstig effect laat zien.
- En, dat van 49 procent totaal niet bekend is wat voor effect het heeft.

Farmaceuten zelf aan het woord

Vice president genetica A. Roses van GlaxoSmithKline meldde bij de besloten presentatie dat “90% van de producten van GlaxoSmithKline, en dat van ieder ander farmaceutisch bedrijf, bij de meerderheid van de patiënten niet werkt.” [5]

Wetenschappelijk medewerkers van één van de grootste farmaceuten ter wereld: Bayer: “Tweederde van alle medicatie tegen kanker, vrouwenziekten en hartziekten blijken in een tweede onderzoek niet de resultaten te kunnen bevestigen.” Herhaalbaarheid van onderzoeksresultaten is één van belangrijkste grondvesten van wetenschappelijk bewijs. [6]

Amgen, een andere grote farmaceut kon van 53 klinische geneesmiddelonderzoeken voor kanker en andere bloed ziekten 47 niet reproduceren. [7]

Complementaire aanpak
Wetenschappelijk uitwisselingsbureau Science Exchange laat bij monde van directeur E. Iorns het volgende weten: “De natuur is complex en in de experimentele opzet (van medisch wetenschappelijk onderzoek) worden niet altijd alle variabelen voldoende meegewogen.” [9]

Hiermee geeft zij in feite weer dat het leven complex is, het menselijk lichaam dynamisch en voortdurend verandert door de inwerkingen van o.a. de leefstijl, leefomgeving, cultuur enz. En dat de invloed hiervan op o.a. genetica, psyche, neuronale verbindingen enz. niet wordt betrokken in wetenschappelijk onderzoek. Het is zoals longarts Mariska Koster via twitter laat weten "Je leert als arts een mens als patiënt te zien. Veel later leer je dat weer andersom”.

De complementaire geneeskunde wijst hier al eeuwen naar, maar wordt door de overheid, zorgverzekeraars, farmaceuten en reguliere medische wereld als ‘kwakzalverij’ afgeschilderd.

Regulier is kwakzalverij

Het wetenschappelijke tijdschrift ‘New Scientist’ meldde in september 2012: “De Medische wetenschap is op wankele grondvesten gebouwd.”[8]

De ‘Vereninging tegen kwakzalverij’ houdt regelmatig heksenjachten tegen, in hun ogen ‘niet bewezen’ geneesmethoden zoals homeopathie. Haar websitewww.kwakzalverij.nl vermeld dit ook. Zij stelt dat uitsluitend de reguliere medische praktijk juist en bewezen is. Tot haar grote voorbeelden behoort onderzoeksjournalist Ben Goldacre. Hij stelde regelmatig ‘alternatieve’ en complementaire geneeswijze aan de kaak in zijn column ‘Bad Science’ in The Guardian.

Onlangs schreef Goldacre het boek ‘Bad Pharma’. Goldacre meldt daarin dat het merendeel van medische onderzoeken onjuist zijn. Tevens meldt hij dat de meerderheid van de artsen hun wetenschappelijke literatuur slecht kennen en dat deze literatuur door het achterhouden van juiste gegevens door de farmaceutische industrie onjuist is. Werkelijke gegevens van bijwerkingen komen niet bij de arts en de patiënt terecht, maar worden door de farmaceutische industrie achtergehouden. Daarbij maakt Goldacre de lezer er tevens op attent dat het grootste deel van de geneeskundige opleiding van artsen door deze farmaceutische industrie wordt bekostigd. [4]

Wat Goldacre in feite zegt is: De reguliere medische wereld is volgens de normeringen van de overheid voor wetenschappelijk bewijs en de ‘Vereniging tegen Kwakzalverij’ minimaal een pseudowetenschap die neigt naar kwakzalverij. Dit wordt mede ondersteund door de uitkomsten van het onderzoek van de reguliere medische wereld zelf.

Oplossing

Er zou per direct door iedere arts gecontroleerd moeten worden of, wat hij voorschrijft op werkelijke wetenschap berust. En er moet voor alle geneeskundige behandelwijze (regulier en complementair) met dezelfde maten gemeten worden.

Robert Whitaker is a science and medical writer. He is the author of four books, two of which tell of the history of psychiatry.
