Wisdom of today.

In Hindu tradition, the bull (often Nandi) symbolizes Dharma (righteousness, morality, and duty), standing on four legs that represent the pillars of truth (Satya), purity (Śauca), compassion (Daya), and austerity (Tapas). As humanity moves through the Yugas (ages), these pillars weaken, causing the bull to stand on fewer legs.

Key Aspects of the Bull/Dharma Symbolism:

The Four Pillars: According to the Bhagavata Purana, the four legs are compassion, cleanliness, austerity, and truthfulness. Another interpretation includes tapas (austerity), daya (mercy), shauch (cleanliness), and satya (truthfulness).

Yuga Decline: In the Satya Yuga, the bull stands on all four legs. By Kali Yuga (the current age), the bull is reduced to standing on only one leg—truthfulness—which is also threatened by deceit.

Nandi and Shiva: Nandi, the sacred bull, is the vahana (vehicle) of Lord Shiva, representing the individual soul (Jeevatma) and devotion.

Symbol of Virtue: The bull represents stability, strength, and the adherence to righteous living.
