Real guru is Krishna and His representative in the world.
Sometimes, to mitigate distresses in this forest of the material world, the conditioned soul receives cheap blessings from atheists. He then loses all intelligence in their association. This is exactly like jumping in a shallow river. As a result one simply breaks his head. He is not able to mitigate his sufferings from the heat, and in both ways he suffers. The misguided conditioned soul also approaches so-called sādhus and svāmīs who preach against the principles of the Vedas. He does not receive benefit from them, either in the present or in the future.
Cheaters are always there to manufacture their own way of spiritual realization. To get some material benefit, the conditioned soul approaches these pseudo sannyāsīs and yogīs for cheap blessings, but he does not receive any benefit from them, either spiritual or material. In this age there are many cheaters who show some jugglery and magic. They even create gold to amaze their followers, and their followers accept them as God. This type of cheating is very prominent in Kali-yuga. Viśvanātha Cakravartī Ṭhākura describes the real guru in this way.

One should approach a guru who can extinguish the blazing fire of this material world, the struggle for existence. People want to be cheated, and therefore they go to yogīs and svāmīs who play tricks, but tricks do not mitigate the miseries of material life. If being able to manufacture gold is a criterion for becoming God, then why not accept Kṛṣṇa, the proprietor of the entire universe, wherein there are countless tons of gold? As mentioned before, the color of gold is compared to the will-o’-the-wisp or yellow stool; therefore one should not be allured by gold-manufacturing gurus but should sincerely approach a devotee like Jaḍa Bharata. Jaḍa Bharata instructed Rahūgaṇa Mahārāja so well that the King was relieved from the bodily conception. One cannot become happy by accepting a false guru. A guru should be accepted as advised in Śrīmad-Bhāgavatam (11.3.21). Tasmād guruṁ prapadyeta jijñāsuḥ śreya uttamam: One should approach a bona fide guru to inquire about the highest benefit of life. Such a guru is described as follows: śābde pare ca niṣṇātam. Such a guru does not manufacture gold or juggle words. He is well versed in the conclusions of Vedic knowledge (vedaiś ca sarvair aham eva vedyaḥ). He is freed from all material contamination and is fully engaged in Kṛṣṇa’s service. If one is able to obtain the dust of the lotus feet of such a guru, his life becomes successful. Otherwise he is baffled both in this life and in the next.

TRANSLATION " 'Saints of your caliber are themselves places of pilgrimage. Because of their purity, they are constant companions of the Lord, and therefore they can purify even the places of pilgrimage.' PURPORT This verse was spoken by Mahārāja Yudhiṣṭhira to Vidura in Śrīmad-Bhāgavatam (1.13.10). Vidura was returning home after visiting sacred places of pilgrimage, and Mahārāja Yudhiṣṭhira was receiving his saintly uncle. In essence, Mahārāja Yudhiṣṭhira was saying, "My dear Lord Vidura, you yourself are a holy place because you are an advanced devotee. People like you always carry Lord Viṣṇu in their hearts. You can revitalize all holy places after they have been polluted by the pilgrimages of sinners." A sinful person goes to a holy place of pilgrimage to be purified. In a holy place, there are many saintly people and temples of Lord Viṣṇu; however, the holy place becomes infected with the sins of many visitors. When an advanced devotee goes to a holy place, he counteracts all the sins of the pilgrims. Therefore Mahārāja Yudhiṣṭhira addressed Vidura in this way. Since an advanced devotee carries Lord Viṣṇu within his heart, he is a moving temple and a moving Viṣṇu. An advanced devotee does not need to go to holy places, for wherever he stays is a holy place. In this connection, Narottama dāsa Ṭhākura states, tīrtha-yātrā pariśrama, kevala manera bhrama: visiting holy places is simply another type of bewilderment. Sometimes what we need as a nation is not more PR, not more public displays, and not even more loud prayers that sound good for a moment but change nothing afterward. What we truly need is genuine repentance.
A real return to God.
Because it is possible for people to pray publicly and still go back to the same corruption, the same pride, the same injustice, and the same wickedness. But God is not looking for performance. He is looking for hearts that are broken before Him. Hearts that are willing to humble themselves and turn back to Him sincerely.
As a nation, we need to come before God and ask Him to forgive us. To have mercy on us, and restore us again. We need to repent not only for ourselves, but even on behalf of our leaders, our systems, and the direction we have taken as a people.
Because when a nation walks away from God, the effects are seen everywhere; in leadership, in families, in justice, in morality, and even in the land itself.
But the beautiful thing is that God is still merciful. He still responds when people genuinely return to Him. Scripture says, "If My people, who are called by My name, will humble themselves and pray and seek My face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, forgive their sin, and heal their land."
That is the condition: humility, prayer, seeking Him, and turning away from wickedness.
God is not asking for perfection before we come to Him. He is asking for repentance. Genuine repentance.
And if we truly return to Him wholeheartedly, God will heal, restore, and show mercy to our nation once again.

In the Srimad-Bhagavatam, the duties of spiritual partners (husband and wife in grihastha ashrama) are not viewed as mere social contracts, but as a mutual responsibility to achieve ultimate self-realization and love of God. These spiritual duties are primarily outlined in Canto 3 (Chapters 22-33) through the pastimes of Kardama Muni and Devahuti, and Canto 7 (Chapter 11) in the discourses on the duties of a householder.
The primary duties of the spiritual partners are divided into distinct but cooperative responsibilities:
The Husband's Spiritual Duties
- Spiritual Guide and Protector: A husband must act as the spiritual guide and protector for his wife. In the Vedic tradition, he is often referred to as pati-guru (the husband as a spiritual master), meaning he is responsible for both her emotional shelter and her spiritual enlightenment. [1, 2, 3]
- Equal Facilitation: He must provide all facilities for her protection and advancement, even if it requires him to endure personal hardship. [1]

- Devotion and Support: A chaste and devoted wife (pati-dharma) sees her husband as a partner in spiritual advancement and supports him in all household religious activities. [1, 2, 3, 4, 5]
- Household Management: She takes expert charge of the household and family affairs, creating an atmosphere that is conducive to spiritual practice and avoiding competition with her husband.
- Purity and Character: She is guided to remain content, pure in habits, truthful, and to control greed, helping her husband maintain his spiritual vows.
Shared Spiritual Partnership
- Mutual Cooperation: According to the philosophy of the Bhagavatam, the ultimate purpose of marriage is mutual cooperation to distinguish reality from illusion and advance in God-consciousness.
- Turning the Home into a Temple: Together, the partners are meant to focus on spiritual activities like Deity worship, hearing scriptures, and hosting devotees.
- Transcending Bodily Conceptions: When both husband and wife aim at spiritual advancement, the relationship moves beyond physical attraction. By engaging their household responsibilities in service, they turn the home into a peaceful, spiritual sanctuary.
