Rakshasas: They are described as cruel, greedy and carnivorous (man-eaters), but in some Buddhist stories they become protectors of the Dharma after hearing the teachings. According to Sri Aurobindo Rakshasas represent the dark forces but in some cases they become dharma protectors. In general Sri Aurobindo's advice was :
"You have only to begin by defeating the Rakshasa and the doors will open for you as they have opened for so many others who were held back by their own mental or vital nature."
