It is interesting to note that Easter will eventually replace Christmas as the main celebration of Jesus' presentation, the emphasis to be placed on the demonstration of His (Humanity's) victory over death, and the Ascension into the greater light and understanding of Life. That we celebrate Easter by a sign of relief that God saved our skins while we have become unamored with Easter bunnies and candy is a sad example of our misplaced thinking and warped orientation to materialism.
It is, by the way, the wish of the
Master Jesus that we attempt to understand the gift of His life
presentation, get past this unwholesome preoccupation with death and
suffering associated with the Crucifixion and Easter, cease to think
of Him as a “man of sorrows”, and remove Him from the cross, once
and for all. Rather, we would depict Him as the determined and joyous
victor over the material world Who has “risen to the Father in
heaven”, a process which we all will achieve in our own time. It is
time for this to be seriously considered; spiritually, we are (on the
whole) no longer children or sheep, but adults reaching toward
maturity.
