In wezen is de invloed van een discipel van de Grote Witte Loge fundamenteel goed en geestelijk vormend; oppervlakkig en in de uiterlijke gevolgen ervan doen zich – voornamelijk waar het de discipel betreft – moeilijke toestanden en schijnbare scheidingen voor en treden zowel fouten als deugden aan de dag bij degenen die ermede behept zijn, hetgeen vaak vele levens voortduurt, totdat de aldus beïnvloede persoon wordt wat genoemd wordt: “occult verzoend met de uitstromende energie”. Denk hierover na. De aanpassing moet komen van de zijde van hen die beinvloed worden en niet van de discipel.

In vroege stadia brengt deze instromende liefdeskracht persoonlijkheidscontacten tot stand, welke beurtelings schommelen tusssen stadia van de heftigste toewijding en diepste haat bij de persoon die door de energie van de discipel beroerd wordt. Hierdoor onstaat een voortdurende onrust in het leven van de discipel, totdat hij aan de gevolgen van zijn energie-verspreiding wordt aangepast, alsook aan de veelvuldig voorkomende scheuring van verhoudingen en herhaaldelijke verzoeningen. Wanneer de discipel van voldoende belangrijkheid is om het organiserend centrum van een groep te worden of in een positie verkeert om een aanvang te maken esoterisch zijn eigen ashram te vormen (voordat hij de een of andere grote inwijding ondergaat), kan de moeilijkheid zeer werkelijk worden en hoogst verontrustend werken. Er is evenwel weinig dat door de discipel gedaan kan worden, behoudens te proberen de uitgaande energie van liefde te regelen. Het probleem blijft fundamenteel het probleem van degene die erdoor beroerd wordt; zoals ik hier van tevoren heb opgemerkt, moet de laatstgenoemde zich aanpassen, terwijl de discipel gereed staat om samen te werken bij de eerste aanduiding dat hij bereid is de verwantschap te erkennen en de bedoeling om in groepsdienst samen te werken. Dit is een punt dat door beide partijen – zowel de discipel als de persoon die op zijn invloed reageert – onder ogen moet worden gezien.

Een discipel dient; hij schrijft en spreekt; zijn woorden en invloed dringen door tot de massa en hij wekt mensen op tot de een of andere activiteit – vaak goed en geestelijk, soms slecht, vijandig en gevaarlijk. Hij heeft dus niet alleen te maken met zijn eigen reacties op het werk dat hij doet, doch tevens in algemene en speciale zin met de massa op wie hij begint invloed uit te oefenen. Dit is niet gemakkelijk, vooral niet voor de onervaren werker met het Plan.

When the disciple is of sufficient importance to become the organizing center of a group or is in a position to begin esoterically forming his own ashram (before undergoing some major initiation), the difficulty can become very real. and highly disturbing. However, there is little that can be done by the disciple other than trying to regulate the outgoing energy of love. The problem remains fundamentally the problem of the person affected by it; as I have noted here before, the latter must adapt, while the disciple is ready to cooperate at the first indication of his willingness to recognize the kinship and the intention to cooperate in group service. This is a point that must be confronted by both parties – both the disciple and the person responding to his influence. (….) A disciple serves; he writes and speaks; his words and influence reach the masses and he rouses people to some activity – often good and spiritual, sometimes evil, hostile and dangerous. So he has to deal not only with his own reactions to the work he does, but also in a general and special sense with the masses over whom he begins to influence.
