If you are not well restrained by ethical discipline.

Then because of your ethical discipline you are scorned.

And your hearing is not excellent.

Even though you have heard very little.

If you are well restrained by ethical discipline.

Then because of your ethical discipline you are praised.

And your hearing is excellent.

Persons who have not heard much

And are also not well restrained by ethical discipline

Are scorned on both accounts.

And their conduct is not excellent.

Those who have heard a great deal

And are also well restrained by ethical discipline

Are praised on both accounts.

And their conduct is excellent.
