Terumah

This is an interesting parasha because it starts out by describing the flow of energy between the Divine and us. The first line of the parasha relays the message that we need to receive in order to share. Although the Torah is describing the construction of an outer mishkan (the sacred space for the indwelling of the Divine), the deeper spiritual message is to make an inner mikdash (a holy sanctuary) within ourselves, thus sanctifying ourselves and our society. The mikdash is the holy sanctuary within us where the spark of Hashem dwells and where it may fill our whole being when our life becomes the Terumah (heave offering). This is the lesson of every offering.
