Celibacy is not imposed, self-restraint is. However, in the relatively short life cycles in which the aspirant becomes capable of entering the path, he may have to spend one or more lives abstaining from the act of creation in order to learn full mastery and demonstrate the fact that he has the lower sexual nature wholly conquered. The proper use of the sex principle, as well as the full observance of the laws of the land, is the mark of every true aspirant.

(…) Through the conservation of energy and abstinence from uncontrollability, the Yogi becomes a creator on the mental plane through the use of words and sounds, and the energy which may be wasted by activity of the lower center is converted into the great creative work of the magician concentrated and converted. This is accomplished through restraint, clean living, and clear thinking, and not through perversions of occult truth, such as sex magic and the abominations of sexual perversion of various so-called occult schools. The latter are on the black path and do not lead to the gate of initiation. The main Yogas are three in number, the different so-called “Yogas” can be placed in one of three groups: Raja-Yoga – the yoga of mind and will Bhakti-Yoga - the yoga of the heart or devotion Karma-Yoga – the yoga of action Raja-Yoga stands alone and is the foremost of all; it is the sum total of all the others, it is the climax and that which perfects the development in the human kingdom. It is the science of mind and of purposeful will, bringing the highest of man's vehicles in the three worlds under the control of the Ruler within. This science unifies the whole threefold man by driving him into a position where he is nothing but a vehicle of the soul, the God within. This includes the other yogas and benefits from their activities. It is the summary of all evolution and crowns a man king. Bhakti yoga is the yoga of the heart; these entail the submission of all feelings, desires and emotions to the one Beloved, who is known and seen in the heart. It is the sublimation of all the lower kinds of love and the condensing of all desires and desires into the one desire, to know the God of Love and the Love of God. This was the "royal" or crowned science of the last root-race, the Atlanteans, just as the science of Raja-Yoga is the science of the Aryan civilization. Bhakti-yoga brought its practitioner to Arhat or took him to the fourth Initiation. Raja-yoga makes him an Adept and takes him to the portal of the fifth Initiation. Both lead to liberation, for the Arhat is freed from the cycle of rebirth, but Raja-Yoga liberates him so that he can work in full service and freedom as a White Magician. Bahkti-Yoga is the yoga of the heart, of the astral body. (…) 4.1 Psychic powers arise from birth, drugs, incantations, purifying acts or concentrated insight. It may therefore be observed (to the seeker of truth) that incarnation, intense desire and meditation are the three lawful methods, and the only ones to be practiced; intoxicants and words of power or mantric incantations are the tools of black magic and relate to the lower forces. (…) It is needless to point out here that the use of alcohol and narcotics releases the astral consciousness, as does the practice of sexual magic, but that is pure and simple astralism, and the true student of Raja Yoga has nothing to do with this. It is part of the unfoldment of the left-handed Path.
