The four enemies of spiritual life which cause humanity in this age to fall from the spiritual path are gambling, intoxication, illicit sex and meat eating.

Note from Kristo Gabriel : I still drink coffee and tea I must admit honestly, but I skipped all the other intoxicants for more than 2 years now and I am staying aware as well of not falling back. I stopped smoking tabacco for a few months now but I sometimes smell at a cigarette because I like the flavor. Every effort on a path away from intoxication gets rewarded. Don't give up folks. The best thing I did for my spiritual path was applying the four restrictions from the bhakti yoga path on my own life. I am happy now.
